Understanding Generational Dynamics

Millennials, also referred to as Generation Y, are a demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. In specific areas such as social media, a growing divide is evident between Millennials and Gen Z regarding their approaches to life, marriage, and spirituality. While there are many differences, there are also similarities, and understanding these dynamics is crucial in creating a Kingdom-space where all generations can flourish and collaborate.

Navigating a Generationally Diverse Ministry

Ministries with a profound understanding of the expectations and preferences of emerging generations will be well-equipped to attract young talent, maximize potential, alleviate cross-generational challenges, and harness cognitive diversity in a multigenerational world. Effectively discipling these diverse generations requires a multifaceted approach that includes reading, studying, watching, learning, listening, and even playing.

Despite the eternal nature of Kingdom principles, the Global Institute for Church Growth (GIFCG) assists the Body of Christ in adopting methodologies to maintain and regain relevance. After Abraham received the instruction from God to sacrifice his son Isaac, God spoke to him again, instructing him not to go through with it. Had Abraham not been willing to adopt and obey God’s new, relevant instruction, he would have killed his own offspring, and his legacy would have been gravely impacted.

Dr. Hermann Strydom

The History

The Global Institute for Church Growth originated from The Institute for Church Growth International, founded by the late missiologist Dr. Johan D. Engelbrecht in 1962. Its impact and legacy are felt worldwide, having grown into a more influential institution than ever before.

Dr. Hermann Strydom has dedicated his life to ministry since April 1992. His early years in ministry were spent as the Executive International Crusade Director for the Institute for Church Growth International, under the guidance of the late Dr. Johan D. Engelbrecht. Dr. Engelbrecht was a significant figure who collaborated with influential church leaders such as Dr. David Yongi Cho, John Maxwell, Peter Wagner, and Robert Schuller.

As an in-demand conference speaker, Dr. Strydom has travelled extensively, ministering in numerous countries. He has led mass evangelistic crusades, with attendance reaching up to 80,000 people in a single service. His media presence is notable, with regular appearances on various radio and television stations, including Daystar Television, Trinity Broadcasting Network, and kykNET TV.

Dr. Strydom has successfully planted numerous churches across South Africa and globally, all of which are debt-free and own state-of-the-art auditoriums. He served as a full-time pastor for 15 years, and even after passing the leadership to his spiritual successors, these churches continue to thrive, both spiritually and numerically, with thousands attending weekly.

Passionate about strengthening local churches, Dr. Strydom conducts ‘Mending the Net Conferences,’ where he and different Church Growth Specialists teach and implement Biblical strategies to promote practical church growth.

Dr. Strydom is a strong advocate for the active display of the Holy Spirit’s power and presence, including gifts, signs, and wonders. Recognized globally as a seasoned prophet, he flows powerfully in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Academically, Dr. Strydom holds a PhD in Sociology and a Doctorate in Theology. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Team 12, the official Theological Seminary for the Global Institute for Church Growth.
